In this guitar lesson, we’ll work on some Johnny Cash style rhythm guitar. First we’ll go over a nice country strumming pattern and get some practice strumming over a country chord progression. Then we’ll add some Johnny Cash style bass line walks to the chord progression to help transition from one chord to the next. You’ll learn eight Johnny Cash style bass line walks with tablature on the screen. After that, you’ll learn two guitar scales that you can use to create your own country bass line walks and then we’ll get some practice using these scales to play longer Johnny Cash style fill riffs. Overall this is a great guitar lesson that will give you that traditional country sound on your acoustic guitar.

New lesson! Keep sending your lesson requests.. plenty of new lessons on the way https://countryguitaronline.com/request-a-lesson/
Been awaiting this one!
Love how you teach styles, not songs only!
Excellent explanations!
Very helpful! Thank you : )
I’ve been a member now for 3 weeks and have learned more in that time than I did with another online course in 3 years. Devin you’re very well spoken and outline the courses really really well.. Thank you
Thanks Tim! I really appreciate it! I’ll be recording plenty of lessons in the new year 2020 so just let me know if you have any requests…I saw your other lesson request come through for more Merle Haggard lessons. There are some Merle Haggard lessons on the site now and if you have a song in mind, send it over through the lesson request form. Thanks again! Happy New Year!
Thank you Devin. You have tied years of trying to learn guitar together into something that really makes sense….scales and chords. Great teacher. Awesome. Jeff
I just signed up. I’ve really had a lot of fun with the lessons during this crazy time. I hope more keep coming out.
Plenty more on the way!
Love your lessons and your style. Could you do a lesson and post tabs for ‘Dust In The Wind’, by Kansas sometime?
Curious Devin when do you use a bass walk down vs using a riff or is it purely about mixing it up?
I think it really all depends on the song but a lot of it does come down to just mixing it up..I use bass walks more often throughout a progression because they’re simple and won’t sound too busy or clash with singing. I think fill riffs are meant to be played in key spots to add interest. A lot of times I like to play fill riffs in between singing. Sometimes I’ll use fill riffs a lot more if I’m just playing an instrumental arrangement and it’s just me on the guitar. There are a ton of different ways to… Read more »
Thank you very much for your hard work. It’s excellent explanation. I’m showing your video lessons to my students. Some of them are going to subscribe.
