Talking with the Gibson rep that I spoke to yesterday, he let me in on a little inside information that hasn’t been announced yet. Only retailers have this information at this point. Gibson is coming out with a new line of guitars, Generation. There are 4 models, L00, a 45, a Songwriter and a Jumbo. The L00 and 45 are no electronics. Not available until next week.
Personally, I wouldn't buy anything from Gibson. There are so many great guitar companies out there that have run rings around Gibson in recent decades in terms of quality, value, and innovation. They are sort of like Cadillac - your grandpa's brand - but not today's.
I saw a couple of aged Les Paul guitars that are going for about $10,000 each. Ouch, I think this is a bit expensive for my taste
I myself am a ‘try to stay under $500 guitar buyer’, but my desires always seem to run to the $2000 and up models. I’ll never go there. My Les Paul Tribute was $1200. I’m still recovering from that shock.
