New guitar lesson! I’ll have the Jerusalem Ridge backing track posted next week. Have a good weekend! – Devin
Hi devin! thanks for this lesson! great song! the playtrough is not in shuffle?
This one looks like a lot of fun. It should help a lot on timing. I can use that.
I likely!
First play through I kept up pretty good so I have hope!!
One of my favorite flatpicking tunes. Me and my cousin always argue over who did it better, Norman Blake or Tony Rice (on their solo album versions, I’m sure at some point they did it together?) in any case, great tune
Like the look _ and sound_ of this one. Thanks Devin.
Just did my first run through and like it a lot. Btw, what Martin is that Devin? Really like the dark sunburst finish on the top.
Thanks! It’s a D-18 with an ambertone finish
I do very good until it’s time to move up to the 5 th fret. I’m so stuck at the 3rd fret. I can do it but I still have to slow it down and psych myself up for that big jump! Lol. I’m shocked I can keep up, even speed it up a little until ‘that’ part. Lol
Awesome arrangement! Thanks so much Devin for putting this together.
Hey Devin, thanks for adding the backing track!
great Devin ! I follow some lesson on youtube and now finally I’m subscribe here. Thanks
for Your work , very helpful and kindly way to teach.
Hey Devin, I’ve been working on this since you posted and I couldn’t figure why I often stumbled at measures 59 and 72 – felt like my ring finger was always left in the wrong position. I finally thought to check the breakdown for some Devin tips and realise you say to hammer-on from 1st to 2nd fret, but on the tab it’s shows a slide? Really loving this lesson though, weirdly Jerusalem ridge has never been a favourite tune of mine but I’ve really grown to love it over the last week or so. Great fun to play along… Read more »
In the “overview” video it looks like Devin plays a hammer on and also in the lesson. I guess you could do the slide if you wanted. Either way works nicely in this arrangement.
Thanks for this lesson. This one is a lot of fun!
I was sitting in Guitar Center playing this song on a Martin. I felt so accomplished!
Ha thats unreal, I was at the vintage guitar shop in Bath and did the same.
I bet when people came into the store and heard you playing they must’a thought
Molly Tuttle was in the house.
Thanks for the lesson. It took me a while but I got it! Great song.
I’ve been playing this song repeatedly, daily, since you first posted it. I can play it from memory but still like to have the video and tabs in front of me. I still struggle to hit the 5th fret volley without looking or missing but I keep going. I enjoy your lessons because they are so clean. Frustrated by wasting countless sessions on other lesson sites. I was sitting there poised and ready to play waiting, listening to the instructor babble on about his dog, or watch him adjust his greasy hair and beard for what seemed like forever. Thanks… Read more »
I guess you are referring to the 5th fret 3rd string on Bar #58? I just do the 1st fret 2nd string instead, sounds just as good and makes it easier 🙂 Awesome lesson, love this tune!
I’ve gotten much much better on this one. Completely memorized. I can play it fast but not as fast as Devin! When I try to play it that fast it isn’t fun to play (for me). Even players like Molly Tuttle, I like to hear them play but I don’t like to watch them. I’d rather just see their fingers move on the fretboard. Always trying to get their fingerings down.
Is there a tab for the chord strumming pattern in the backing track? it varies a lot.
Really enjoying this one. Thanks Devin!
I can’t believe I’ve been working on this song for a year now!!! I started VERY slow. Gradually working on pick stroke and fretting clean. Got it memorized and faster. Increased speed on the video until I can play it at the 1.5 speed. Then I started trying to play with Devin on the overview adjusting the speed from 0.7 up to 1.0. Sounds like a completely different tune now. Lately I’ve started trying to keep up with some You Tube videos of the song. Do okay but prefer to play with Devin’s videos. (I’m jaded). Lately I’ve been practicing… Read more »
Love to play it with the playback!
is there a pdf tab for this one?
This one is challenging me quite well. The amazing thing I’m discovering about bluegrass guitar is how much is done in the open position.
New to this website. I can’t see where to download the tab for this particular song. Can you help?
Never mind. Found it!
