Lesson ID: A0186
In this guitar lesson, we’ll work on some Johnny Cash style rhythm guitar. First we’ll take a look at an intro progression and learn a few bass line walks that will give your playing that Johnny Cash country sound. Then we’ll talk about a really easy way to use the chord numbering system to change keys when you’re playing country music. After we discuss some important music theory concepts, we’ll practice applying the chord numbering system to another chord progression in the style of Johnny Cash.
Like this Johnny Cash lesson, thanks Devin!
Clear teaching on chord numbering system.
Great job keep em coming Devin!
I must be getting better at this. It’s working!
I just played this, by memory, almost clean transition to that blasted B7!! Feeling empowered!
Wow mind blown! I had completely forgotten about 99% of what I learned in college (its no wonder, it was 1975). Chord progression numbering!! I had never related my college music theory to the guitar! I never saved any of my text books from college. Now I wish I had them. You’re NOT rambling lol. This is great information presented perfectly! I wonder why I never thought to relate ANY of my theory to the fretboard. I’ve spent 1/3 of my life looking at the piano keyboard. DOH!!
Good lesson but now I need you to teach me how to sing like Johnny Cash.
i love Johnny Cash
Thanks so much! I’ve been wanting to learn this technique for so long.
I want to know how you play A barred, without damping or playing the E string. I learned long ago with with my 3 far fingers (2nd, ring, pinky), but due to injury, my pinky doesnt cooperate anymore. Do you bend your index finger up that much?
