I forgot...Thanks for the tab,
No problem,
Here's the link to the guitar I have.
@rg They are nearly the same. Mine is a 314ce.
Awesome,
How do you like the 314CE?
One thing I noticed is a lot of the guitar shops don't set up guitars prior to selling them so you don't really get a good sense of how the guitar actually
plays. I found this out today when talking to a guitar center rep. I played a Taylor 814CE last week and was unimpressed. I was confused
because I heard such amazing reviews about the guitar so it made me ask the rep if they set up the guitars when they come in and he said
they just pull them from the box and put them on the wall. Definitely something to Considering when buying a guitar because when they ship the guitars from the factory the action is set really high for expansion and contraction so the buyer isn't pulling the guitar from the box with fret buzz. My buddy and I were in GC in New York and he wanted to buy a Martin X series. I played it and didn't like the feel of it. The GC rep grabbed the guitar and set it up right there. We both played it and it played awesome. Such a great guitar for 599 but I never would have thought so based off of my first go at playing it. It's definitely worth asking when buying a guitar. More often than not, especially now, they will set it up for you. At least lowering the action at least. Be sure to ask them to do it. There's a good chance they will. You can never truly judge a guitar by pulling it off the wall and playing it. It has to be set up.
Jrick,
If you haven't had your guitar set up, I would bring it in to guitar center and have them set it up for you.
You will notice a huge difference!
My buddy has a 314CE and he loves it!
Solid Wood V Bracing and it's made right here in California under the watch of Andy Powers.
I would also put the woodtone strings on that Devin has mentioned or the elixir Strings.
Or straight up strings
Thanks for sharing, it sounded good!
Regarding Guitar Center doing a set up on a guitar, they will do it no charge if you ask when you first buy it, but they never offer to do it. At least that's been my experience. I also had one of the techs tell me this when I was in Guitar Center this last spring. Just an FYI. Don't forget to ask for it.
The last guitar I bought from GC was a used one and it was already set up pretty nicely. But I've bought new ones that weren't set up at all. I bought a Taylor 314ce in 2013 that way, but it still played well, considering.
It's a shame they just take them out of the box and hang them on the wall like that. They'd sell more if they'd do a set up on them.
When I bought my Taylor from a private sale on Craigslist I took tilt to GC and asked them to check it. They took it to a work bench and set it up. Didn’t even ask my name!
@shysue That's really good to know. What do you like better the 314 or the D18?
@rg I like the D-18 better - it is my "go to" guitar. I do like the Taylor, but the woody tones and bass of the D-18 won me over. I think the Taylor is more trebly, which isn't a bad thing but I just like the sound of the Martin the most.
Fine. Sounds good already and your singing is pleasant as well.
I do not know the original version. But your version serves it honourably. Go on.
You are actually ahead of me on blue grass sounds.
Wow, that song is really well played and sung. I like it!
