Just brought an amazing guitar that I can't put down.   Called an Atkin Essential D, made here by hand in UK.   Has anyone else come across them?

Keep on Picking 🙂

I have, but only by reputation. They are on my 'reward' list, I've only been playing for 13 months now but I've set myself a goal that if I reach a certain standard of playing by the end of the year, I'm going to reward myself with an upgrade. 🙂

@donnymac  I agree. If the guitar was holding me back I would upgrade. I may be waiting a while. lol  The Atkin looks like a great guitar.

I've wanted one for years, but they are outside my price range. And some.

I went to see a Richard Hawley show before the lockdown, and he was playing one. Superb tone.

Alister Atkin is considered by many to be the nearest the UK has to Bill Collings, and his Canterbury workshop has a strong following, and long waiting list as they only produce 5 guitars a week. I believe Bill Collings actually visited the workshop not long before he passed away.  I think Devin has one, but not sure. I haven't noticed one on the videos, but he mentioned it in a post once.

I'd probably go with the Essential series too, very nice guitars. Enjoy!

Oh, and a picture would be nice!

I learn something new every time I log on to this website, because I have never heard of an Atkin guitar. I'll have to check it out.

@wjssavhotmail-co-uk  I think it might help me. I would feel like I had to stay home more, so maybe I would practice more. Sign me up!
