My new Fender Paramount TE didn’t come with a pick guard. The other Paramounts come with one. I purchased one on eBay (from China). Waste of money. I’ve been looking on Stew Mac, eBay, GC, etc.... nothing special. Nothing really simple. I’d like a nice beveled edge. Then I went to Etsy. Why? Such torture! So freaking expensive.... woe is me... so many, so much, why can’t I settle for a plain black simple comma....
This is the one. We’ll see when it comes.
Holy smokes, those leather ones are expensive!
I remember us having this discussion when I bought the Alvarez. The decision to just keep it pick guard free so far has been a good one. This is a guitar I'll probably keep 'til I kick the bucket so it will be the inheritance or the problem of my nephew when I go.
I changed the strings on the Paramount. They sounded dead out of the box. I put on a set D’Addario XT strings. We’ll see if I like them at all. I started to switch out the bridge pins too but noticed they are ebony so I left them.
I play it a lot
I do like the humming birds. Purdy.
I wonder if leather pick guards affect the sound of the guitar. I would think it would either better or worse. Maybe just different. Leather would look good if done right.
I’ll feel like I’m just that much closer to a Gibson Hummingbird
I took a piece of my leather and cut one out. It looked good but I’m to busy (lazy) to cut the tooling in.
@jerseychicadee The Gibson Hummingbird is on my list of definitely wants, but I'm going to have to inherit some $$$ before I can buy one.
Well there it is!
