You are right and I will most likely go that route. I'm not a real wild strummer, LOL.Â
@rinny51 While that is my favorite decorating hint, I was thinking more about people who put a bra on the front of their car when it's new and the bra actually damages the paint. Better to wait until you're selling the car and then put a bra on it if it is badly damaged which is unlikely.
That was my philosophy in the â70âs too!! 🤪😜
Years ago, a friend bought a brand new expensive Takamine round to my house on day of purchase. We all played it, including a friend who bangs out very loud bluesy things in a heavy strum. By the end the guitar was covered in scratches where the pick guard goes. He was not a happy guy i can tell you that. He went and bought a guard, but the damage had already been done.
No big deal it it's a keeper, but a big deal if you want to sell. And besides, I like most pick guards and if you get to choose your own, that's even better.
I think if I did get a pick guard it would have to match the mahogany somehow. It is a very pretty wood, plus the sound hole has the abalone accents so I wouldn't want to cover that up. I've played it every day since I got it and I'm not seeing any scratches so I think it'll be okay.Â
Looking at the pick guards on my Martin and Taylor I see a lot of scratches on them. Guess I'm just playing the Alvarez more gently than the other guitars. 🙂Â
@shysue I looked at my Martin. It has a lot of very light scratches from my 2,3and 4 fingers when I strum. they are hardly noticeable and might even polish out.Â
Maybe a transparent pickguard ?

Very Nice
@jerseychicadeethT is a fancy looking strap. Where did you get it?
I have one strap I rarely use because usually (like 99% of the time) I'm sitting down to play.Â
