Several months ago, I was watching one of your lessons (I forget which one) and you mentioned that — as a general rule – when doing a pull-off, it is best to pull upward when you are going to a lower-pitched string next, and to pull downward when you are on our way to one of the higher-pitched strings. I still think it’s best to pull off in the direct you’re headed like you’re saying there. I try to mention that when I can in the lesson videos because I think it’s important for playing licks faster and smoother. I actually didn’t start pulling off upward until about six years ago so what you’re seeing in the videos is about 20+ years of habits pulling off downward.
