Hope y’all like this one! I’ll be posting some more videos to this course over the next few weeks…
this one was a really threat… so useful Devin , i can t thank you enough honestly , keep it up cowboy
that would be great !
Great job Devin, very clear teaching. I’m looking forward to more hybrid picking!
I’m gonna have to work at this one….but I’ll get it!
I still remember how awkward my right hand felt the first time I tried hybrid picking. Tough style to learn at first but totally worth it. It’ll bring a whole new sound to your rhythm that a lot of other country guitar players don’t have. I’m really excited about the next lessons in the course…should be a good one!
You’re not the only one excited, Devin. So are we!!
Recording Lesson 3 tomorrow…hope to have it posted Wed night or Thursday morning. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks Devin can’t wait for the rest of the lessons!! Bill
Thanks Bill! Hoping to have the next lesson in this hybrid picking course posted this Thursday if everything goes right
awesome
Hi Devin, I just wanted to say I’ve learned so much from your free lessons. Your lessons make my guitar playing sound great and I really have enjoyed your patient teaching. I will be taking the plunge and signing up for your gold pick annual membership tomorrow. Thanks for your efforts. Looking forward to the weekly lessons. Cheers! Jordan
Hey Jordan, did you take the plunge and sign up for lessons? Did they work out well for you? Let me know, I’m a new learner. Making progress that I can see (um hear), that’s good.
I’m getting up to speed on this using a metronome. I get used to one speed then increase the metronome in small increments. I look forward to more lessons on this!
Awesome, good to hear. Metronome practice is perfect for this type of stuff. I just posted the third lesson in the course and more hybrid picking on the way!
I’m pleased with this coarse , i really want to get better with hybrid picking patterns and even the intro here is great help! practicing and following your lessons
Devin,
I am new at hybrid picking, this is perfect for my level of guitar, sounds nice, thank you.
Respectfully yours,
Allan
I agree – excellent Job, Devin. Currently I’m just hopping in from time to time, cause I’m really working on making some progress with the other lessons. But, everytime I struggle with something, I have a look at your videos. They (you) are so motivating – simply brilliant. Thank you so much, Devin and cheers from Germany
Thanks Jorg! Really appreciate the comment!
Just starting this lesson. It does feel awkward, but starting slowly. I need more finger nails on my right hand to keep the pick from drowning out the other notes.
Woo Hoo! Just signed up. So excited I don’t know where to start!!
Awesome, thanks for signing up! Should have plenty to work through in the courses https://countryguitaronline.com/guitar-courses/ and I’ll be adding more and more to those in the future weeks also. Hope you enjoy the lessons! Just let me know if you ever have questions about the site or lesson requests. – Devin
Does it matter what kind of pick to use? When using the pick in hybrid picking, it seems all I hear is the bass notes. I notice your middle and ring fingernails also catch the other strings to make them ring louder. Or I could just not use the pick.
My favorite pick to use is the BlueChip pick TP60 with the right hand speed bevel…expensive but it has a great tone. It’s pretty common at first for the picked notes to be louder than the finger plucked notes…I’d say you’ll be able to pluck the string with your fingers much louder the more you practice hybrid picking…your fingers will find the sweet spot to pluck the string harder so it’ll ring out louder. I like having my fingernails a bit longer so they’ll catch the string and make it ring out nice and loud, but you could get by… Read more »
Very cool!
Great lesson!

Really enjoying the hybrid picking lessons. It’s an area I am really focusing on right now.
This lesson was very helpful.
Thanks Devin
That was a truly interesting lesson. It will take some serious practice time. I happy the tab is there. It will aid in working on this. Devin, is there anyway you can add a snippet of the tab when you are presenting the pattern. Just a measure or two. I know I learn better if I see something that explains the concept. It will help clarify your words. You fingers move too fast for me. This idea is for new material as I think it would be too difficult to go back and insert snippets. I think I’m not the… Read more »
My favorite so far …today…
I love homework!
This lessons has taught me a lot. I’ve wanted to learn this style of picking but no one has ever presented it as well as you!!! Thank you!
I find myself coming back to this lesson over and over. I’ve screen shot it, printed it, downloaded it. By far my favorite. I can play it by memory now and catch myself sitting in the dark unconsciously picking it out.
I really appreciate the clarity in the video. You really explain things very well
nice
It s a maravellousl piece of music .Could I know the title of the song?..Thanks for your so Wonderfull sens of pedagogy Kevin !
oh yes, I like that a lot, but it’s still very unusual for me. First of all, I have to take it very slowly.
Totally motivated to do this course. I’ve been playing “Mystery Train” in the style of the late, great Scotty Moore which is hybrid picked but I want to go right back to the beginning to develop the style to be able to apply anywhere.
This is great, thanks. I’ve developed a bad habit over the years or touching my pick with the middle finger when strumming and this should help me kick that habit. Most of my experience is finger picking, so that seems to be helping.
