Roots of Country Music

Jimmie Rodgers is the father of country music and the first inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame.  His first hit was “Away Out On The Mountain.”  Later he used some fills and licks, like in “Hobo Bills Last Ride”, and did not yodel.  Both are classics and either would get us back to the roots of country music.

Sounds good. To be honest I didn't pay a lot of attention to country music when I was younger, but now that I've aged and mellowed it appeals to me and I like learning the songs. Anyone ever see the Ken Burns documentary about country music? I learned a lot of stuff on that show but man, was it long. I think it was like 12 hours long or something like that. Had to watch it in installments.
