Hello all,
I have been playing guitar for about 3 years now and I’m new to learning/playing blue grass. I was wondering if there is a warm up routine you recommend to increase crosspicking and rhythm?
Thank you
Learn basic chord theory and become familiar with the different inversions for each chord. Become familiar with the basic crosspicking patterns. Get tab for a relative easy tune, "Banks of the Ohio" for instance, and start learning to play the tune. Also experiment substituting different crosspicking patterns for parts of the tunes. Unfortunately, I have not found any instructional that that provides detailed information. Subjects like a melody transitioning from standard noting pattern to crosspicking or transitioning from crosspicking. It would be great to know what goes through a guitarists mind when they decide to crosspick a musical phrase.
