So I went ahead and ordered the Alvarez parlor guitar thru Guitar Center, and the website said they had it in stock, new. They charged my card within seconds of ordering it and then . . . nothing. I kept checking the status every day and it just said "default." Huh?
I called and was told that a Guitar Center in California had my guitar, and it was noted on the order that it would ship out on the 14th of January. When I asked why it took so long to ship out she told me, well, they need to check it to make sure it's not a used one, or one that had been on display, or one that had something wrong with it. No joke, this is what she told me. I said, "This is a New guitar, right?" Um, well, they just need to check it, she said. WTH?
I almost cancelled the order right then and there but I didn't. She said they would send an e-mail when it shipped. If I don't get an e-mail on Thursday I'm just going to cancel it and order it from somewhere else.
Dang. I wish Sweetwater carried Alvarez, but they don't. Sweetwater has great customer service.
That's frustrating. They can get their money immediately, but can't seem to do anything about the guitar.
I’m loving this Baby Blue. Cheaper too!
They clearly need to work on their online customer service
My seller provides a full set-up service including fret dressing etc. This takes a few days as there's a queue, but it's well worth the wait.
If they are simply sending the item, it should be straight out the door.
Hopefully the guitar will be fantastic!
Who is your seller Dom?
Update: Just got an e-mail saying that it has shipped. I'm really crossing my fingers that this is truly a new guitar and not a display or damaged one. If it isn't new it's going right back.
@shysue hopefully it doesn’t get stuck in Kentucky like some stuff my kids ordered and are waiting for. Not sure why but seems like more stuff has been delayed recently.
I’m hopeful it’s going to ‘be absolutely mahvelous darling’ and brand shiny new!! you will love it and pet it but don’t call it George.
@rinny51 I know what you mean. A Christmas gift I had ordered was coming from Ohio to Arizona. Tracking its progress it got scanned in 10 different cities before it made it to Phoenix, including a couple of places in California. I did get it before Christmas, but it had quite a trip between OH and AZ, LOL.
Update: Guitar Center e-mailed me and said it would arrive Friday. We shall see.
@shysue pro tip leave some snacks out for your delivery people and they will handle your packages with care
I’m pretty excited for you! That little beauty looks enticing!!
