Hi I don't mind admitting that my favourite guitar player was Doc Watson.   I think he was truly a great.  He style of play, and vocals for me made him the leader in bluegrass.

Others that spring to mind Ricky Skaggs and fellow Brit Albert Lee.

Who's other people's favourites ?

Keep on Picking 🙂

Justin, I love Doc, too. But I think my all-time favorite is Norman Blake. His stuff is so unadorned that when I listen to it, I almost feel I could play it. I can't, but it does feel that way. My favorite of today's players is Bryan Sutton, but when I hear him, I feel like I ought to put my guitar back in the case and stick it in the closet.

Hahaha Larry totally with you there. Norman Blake is so tasteful in his playing.  Another great.  Wish I had the talent to be a tiny ways good as these guys. 😀

Keep on Picking 🙂

I think Brad Davis is an awesome guitar player who kinda flies under the radar because he doesn't release a lot of his own records. In my opinion he can get a little carried away with all his embellishments (which  are still amazing), but when he stays close to the melody he's way up their on my list.

Brad Davis can definitely shred. I saw him at a Dallas guitar convention almost ten years ago and managed to take a guitar lesson from him in his studio back then. Picked up a few tips from Brad and heard some cool stories about artists he's had come through the studio. His double down up technique is pretty amazing...hear it around 5:25 in this video

Yeah, you don't hear much about him since he doesn't release many records but I think he's great too.

Wow he certainly is quick.   As if he got the idea from listening to Van Halen.   Just shows that great music is great music.   I love listening to all types from country to heavy metal and appreciate all players. 😀

Keep on Picking 🙂

Kerry King.   Absolutely another favourite.   Boy he can pick.   Electric again like Albert Lee.  Brad Paisley is someone I've been getting into a lot just latey.

I listen to country/bluegrass constantly in the car, drives the rest of the family mad lol

Keep on Picking 🙂

I was watching some old videos with Glen Campbell playing and was surprised at what a good guitar player he was. But then he was part of the Wrecking Crew, session players. At some point he broke off to have a much bigger career singing and playing on his own. Anyway, he was playing some solos and he was really good.
