Great find! The hard shell case makes it worth every penny
The seller hasn't responded to my e-mail yet. Sent it over 24 hours ago, but I guess there's still hope. I've lived almost 66 years without a banjo so I think I'll survive another week or so.

Well, I got me a banjo. The guy with the Gretsch never did respond to my contact thru Craigslist, so hubby & I drove down into Phoenix to Bizarre Guitar and I picked up this little cheapie. A 2020 Savannah for $279. It's open back, five string and about as simple as they come, but it played and sounded pretty good from what little I know about playing banjos. I practiced the banjo "roll" on my guitar before we went down and then used it on the banjo and amazingly enough it sounded awesome!
Anyway, the banjo search saga is over and I found one I can learn on. If I get competent on this I'll probably upgrade at some point. We'll see.

Well, if you do get the banjo bug get an inexpensive one first to make sure it's something you want to play. I'm already finding out that I have to reach my left arm way out to play it. I don't have any issues with my left shoulder like I do with my right shoulder though, so far it's okay. I just didn't realize how lllloooonnngggg that banjo neck is. 😲

The banjo I got is an open back so no heavy rings or resonator on it and it just weighs a few lbs. It's very light, maybe 4 or 5 lbs if even that. The guitar shop had a beautiful Orpheum banjo for a relatively good price and I asked to see it. The sales guy said, "That thing weighs a ton." He got it down off the display wall and he wasn't kidding, it must have weighed 25 lbs., easy. My PRS Custom weighs about 16 lbs. and I think that is too heavy!
Oh, update on the guy selling the Gretsch banjo. I finally got an e-mail from him apologizing that he just didn't see the e-mail I sent him, and that he still had it if I wanted it. Sheesh. Too late. 😑
I’m sitting here looking at my guitar zoo. They all look so similar. My type is so set. I was talking to 2 old friends who also have a guitar zoo. One has probably 25 Fender Strat, Tele’s. The other has a mess of Dreads. We all have out types. It made me laugh. My zoo is small in comparison to theirs. I’m in no hurry to catch up to them. I’m a parlor size lover. The parlors are in such high demand now. I keep holding out for the COVID warriors to cut their loses and sell out. Lol. I’m still tracking prices on the Masterworks. I kind of love that abalone shimmer. I love to watch Steve Martin play the Banjo though. I’m glad I’m too busy buying parlors to want to venture out. Hahaha. You’re a brave learner!
