Hi Devin,
Would love to see a lesson on Dark Hollow with some fun riffs and arrangements.
Thanks,
Logan
Is this the song? I am not familiar with this one.
David Bromberg does a great version of this. Guitar break begins at around 1:45
This makes me want to play fiddle instead of guitar, LOL.Ā
I like the one by Aubrey Haynie.
@shysue I will keep my eye out for a fiddle at some estate sales lol
@rinny51 If I saw a fiddle for $20 I would buy it. 😀 I like this Aubrey Haynie version, too.Ā
Definitely the stuff we are here for. Many thanks Logan for the introduction and thanks for the video posting buddies who put sounds on it already.
It reminds us all Blue Grass is a band stuff with great fiddle and mandoline solos. Either we do as Sue and Eric buying a fiddle š or we meet players to have fun together. Both may be great I guess.
First Eric's video above shows some usual blue grass guitar techniques I'd like to handle them as well.
Looking forward to Devin's lesson then
Wow, I've just recently signed up for this site and it's great to see so many people as excited about bluegrass as I am. Thanks all for the warm welcome and for posting different versions of this song!
I've always loved the Dead's many renditions of this song:
I listen to so many different versions of the same song. These artists take the piece and really own it. You really know when you cross that bridge between just singing or playing a song to really giving it ā your voice.ā Iām waiting to make that transition. I almost had it today playing along with a song Iām learning. Getting close...
@loganmuir Never heard their version of this - I like it! I know Jerry Garcia started out playing bluegrass banjo long before Grateful Dead existed. Guess he liked going back to his roots now and then.Ā
@shysue Glad you like it! Jerry is a great bluegrass player, he's a big reason I'm here today, always have loved the way he plays. He played with David Grisman as well as others fairly often. In the 70s, he played banjo in a band called Old & In The Way. They do a great cover of Wild Horses by the Stones:
@loganmuir That is excellent. The Stones song lends itself well to the bluegrass version. I didn't know about Old & In The Way! Learn something new every day. 😀Ā
I like the version of Trey Hensley
This guy is good !
