@jambongris way too big for me. First guitar I ever played was a cherry Hummingbird. Way back in ‘74 or ‘75 I like the small guitars for myself. I had a huge classical guitar and gave it to my grandson because I couldn’t get my hand around the neck.
@jerseychicadee Sorry JC, the message was for @lc (Landon). I was just joking that he had all of the those Gibsons on his list of 3 Favourite Guitars and that the only one missing was a Hummingbird, so I though I'd mention the omission. I didn't mean it to be for you because I know you just ordered a 00 guitar and your favourite guitar right now is a parlour guitar, so yeah, I know where you taste for guitars is right now. Like the saying goes, good things come in small packages.
@lc Landon: I see you are a big fan of Gibson guitars. I play a J-15, which has walnut back and sides with a sitka spruce top and a maple neck. This guitar is no longer in the Gibson lineup, but maybe you could find a used one and get a good deal. I believe Gibson discontinued it because it became more popular than their more expensive guitars. Just a theory. Check one out if you get a chance.
I own a Gulid OM-26oCe Deluxe black sunburst right now.
@jambongris Ya I'll check it out thanks!
For me, they’re:
- Taylor 214CE
- Fender Classic Player Baja '60s Telecaster
- Fender American Professional Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker
My crappy travel guitar is a Squier Strat ($80 used)
In no particular order:
Bourgeois Country Boy
Froggy Bottom P12
Taylor GS Mini (the first)
1 - My American 2023 Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster
2 - My OMC-15M Martin
3 - Jerry Garcia's Tiger
Here are my two babies, the Martin is getting setup this week so she is unstrung ATM
Currently own one bluegrass guitar:
Williford Custom Acoustic
* Adirondack Spruce Top + Brazilian Rosewood Back and Sides
* Made by a Luthier in Georgia in 2014
Favorites besides what I own:
1) Santa Cruz Tony Rice Model
2) Martin HD28
3) Yamaha FG9
@cashby I've been looking at the FG9. Are you lusting after the Hog or Rosewood edition? A hand built guitar for under $5K Canadian seems like a good value, but the doubters say they'd never pay that much for a Yamaha. The bolt on neck has some people worried too. My guitar store doesn't stock them, but I can make a special order. The video's on YT which feature this guitar sure do give me an appetite to own one.
