Too cool!
Ha ha! I know about not being confident in playing. I've gotten so much more confidence as I've played for others.Β I also discovered that when I record myself on my phone, it shows me what I need to practice, which seems to help me progress.

I wish it were possible to jam over Zoom or some other program, because my husband and I would love to "get together". Maybe some techies will figure this out for us!Β We live in such a populated place that there are so many people to jam with. I hope you find some folks close to you! Good luck!
Here's kind of a silly question: Do you prefer to stand up (with a guitar strap) or sit down to play? Since I only sit to play and practice I've found that I have a real hard time playing standing up. Guess it doesn't matter since I'm not in a band and I don't perform anyway, but the other day I thought I would change it up and try and stand up to play. The results weren't good.Β
How about you?Β
Definitely practice both sitting and standing you just never know when you might be on stage some day 😀Β

Brilliant 😀 😀Β

He has the X factor 🤣Β
I have seen plenty of bluegrass players sitting while giving a concertΒ
I wish I could say that about myself. Where I live there are never ever any bluegrass concerts. Actually Iβve never been to one - except maybe The Dead South, if that counts. I just thought bluegrass and sitting doesnβt fit together 😆
@katharinaΒ My profile picture is a band called The woodworms we would always choose sitting if given the opportunity 😀Β

The funny thing is, when we perform, I have nervous energy and standing up helps me settle down a bit.

@alicelarhotmail-com 🍺 🍺 A Couple of these Help me with the nerves 🤣 🤣 🤣Β
standing and sitting can change the position of your guitar and fingers. Best to practice both.
Think I'm going to practice standing up and playing this weekend and see how it goes. Last time didn't work out so good, but I think maybe the strap wasn't adjusted right.Β
I find I need my strap fairly tight so I can still slightly angle the guitar toward me a bit. And high -- seems to position the guitar close to how it is when I'm sitting. I've practiced standing while strumming chords, basically by feel, and I need a ton more practice for sure. It's funny that my basic chord changes while sitting I'm not staring at the frets at all. In fact, I'm usually focused on reading tab/lyrics. But, if I take that slight peripheral view away by having the guitar perfectly vertical, hmmm, not easy! Same thing standing of course.Β
Overall, I find it quite a bit different vs sitting. Especially finger-style and flat picking. Even more impressive to watch the great flat pickers play standing.Β
Dobro, FWIW, is easier to make the transition as long as your strap set up is good. Btw, I finally got the Schaller strap lock system on my primary acoustic and am really happy with that solution. Before, I was just using rubber washers essentially to keep the strap on and it was not fullproof by any means.
My brother in law walks around town playing his guitar during the weekly Farmers Markets. He must make money at it, heβs always there
