I currently play with my pinky
Resting next to the E string
So I know where my right hand is at.
I was curious if this considering ok
Or if my right hand should be floating.
hey G , i do it the same way , my pinky is also resting on the guitar , for me this works 👍
I don’t plant my pinky, but I rest my hand behind the bridge. Whatever works for you is good.
Floating for speed for me.
I rest my pinky on the pick guard when I'm picking, but never when strumming. Well, sometimes when boom-chucking, but definitely not when strumming open chords.
I'm an estimable member but my opinion on this matter is probably questionable.
@jrick92 just like in guitar we are all in different places in our membership lol
I’m a plinker. That’s my place. Almost hurts to hear it.
Plinker: 1. To cause to make a soft, sharp, metallic sound; clink.
I think we are all plinkers by definition
Watch Presley Barker's Right hand technique, you will get him on Youtube.
So young. Looks like a baby Billy Strings
They make it look so effortless
Does anyone think about where they pick in relation to the soundhole?
Watched this vid yesterday, at around 1m54 he talks about pick location and the sweet spot - picking just behind the soundhole is best for for sound quality he says.
I've always known the area where you strum/pick affects tone but never knew there was one single place to aim for. Always thought it was subjective... personally I prefer the warmer sound playing nearer the neck and I think I mostly play over the middle of the soundhole, depending on the size of guitar I'm playing.
I'd also think comfort is important. Picking further back didnt work for me when I tried it earlier today - found it really awkward. Might try again though.
Any thoughts?
