Hi, does anyone on here play or have ever played in a Band?
I was wondering if Devin ever played in a band.
No, I play alone, with my dog for audience!
@wjssavhotmail-co-uk yes sometimes she suffers! she doesn't choose the moments and the music style!
The worst for her is the violin!
@thib My cat Agatha will act up when I'm practicing piano. She's jump up on the china cabinet and stare at me or scratch the carpet so I'll have to banish her to another room and close the door.
@jambongris Pfff these non music loving animals!
I actually played keyboard in a band when I was in high school. We were not good, but had a manager who managed to get us gigs. We covered bands like The Who, The Doors, The Kinks, Paul Revere and The Raiders and Wilson Pickett. Our signature song was a cover of Vanilla Fudge's excellent recording of You Keep Me Hanging On. Our name was Made in Japan. Our parents bought us our gear. We didn't last long. That's about all I'd like to say on that subject. Thanks for the topic though John! Memories.
@thib Oh, that's too funny! We're talking early seventies here. Fortunately there were no recordings made of Made in Japan. We had limited success and disbanded within an eighteen month period. There was a very successful local band called The Rock Show of the Yeomen. We called ourselves The Rickshaw of the Made in Japan (bad pun).
@wjssavhotmail-co-uk Just so you know John, I plan on being less active on the Forum next month, taking up less space, giving the rest of CGO a chance to win the January contest, stepping back a bit - I have to go away part of the month anyways so good luck and all the best for 2024.
I played flute, piccolo and oboe in high school marching band and oboe in orchestra in college if that counts.
@jerseychicadee My cousin plays cello in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and he's always saying he has band practise so yeah, playing oboe in an orchestra definitely qualifies for playing in a band. I regret never taking oboe because to me, it is the most beautiful sounding wind instrument there is.
