I'm just hearing this. Jerry Jeff was who started me listening to country music. Then came Waylon and Willie and David Allen Coe, then a few trips to the Armadillo in Austin. I was hooked. Sad news.

Really sad news.  Great musician and awesome songwriter.  I saw Jerry Jeff a couple of times in the 70s when he was out of control.  Both concerts he was late, played a few songs and left.  Saw him again after he got sober in the 80s and was the best.  If he didn’t live the life he led, we wouldn’t have the songs he wrote. RIP JJW

@dan  Exactly! you always knew you were taking a chance that if he did show up , he might be pretty drunk. It was always a good time  though.
