Curious, I was going to dedicate to finger style only. Strumming as well as soloing and finger picking.
I can’t be the only finger strummer doing country / bluegrass out there.
should I continue these lessons, or move to a finger style site?
it’s just a matter of using fingers and ditching the pick.
I can see why someone my age might want to specialize in one style but someone 40 or 50 years younger , no way. If you're in between you wouldn't take advice anyway.
I’m too hippie. I like finger style but use a flat pick more than anything. My finger nails are too thin to do much without some kind of pick or the other.
I think you get more volume and tone with a pick. But that's just my opinion.
I just ordered another Blue Chip Pick. I’m waiting for that 000 Martin to go back on sale for Christmas too.
My hands are jacked up from doing a remodel on our new house. I think my fingertips are tougher now though lol
@jerseychicadee this is a great guitar for the price
martin DX1AE $599 guitar center has a 15% off as well.
I was in GC playing it last week! I’m waiting to see what Recording King is going to offer me on the warranty replacement on the little Dirty 30. I’m been watching slick deals for the sales on the low end Martin’s. Even the Little Martin. Sold my Fender already.
@rinny51 My hands are a mess, too. We're re-doing the backyard and we've been moving rock and planting shrubs in the worst soil you can imagine. Here in Arizona we have caliche soil about a foot down and it's super hard to break through. My hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and back have just been killing me. It's why I haven't been on here much lately, and it's so frustrating to try and practice.
Oh well. This too shall pass, and then I can play normally again.
That caliche is better for making roads than it is for planting, I know. lol

Flat picking is the best.
@wjssavhotmail-co-uk I like several different styles. Hybrid picking is fun too
@rinny51 Hybrid opens up a lot of possibilities. I just wish I was better at it.
