Sure, why no?. Give it a shot. Bending strings, as Devin does in these licks, sounds a lot cooler on electric though, but go for it.

Well, I’m talking about playing power chords ON an acoustic. Stay alert, keep up. Sure, power chords on an electric =normal. Power chords on an acoustic? Well, let’s see. I’m gonna not play that song? Or instead, let’s stop mid song and plug up to an electric? No, I’m gonna power on and play the song, play the chord. There’s no guitar police monitoring my play. If that were the case, they’d have taken all my guitars a long time ago.
@jerseychicadee I too would be rounded up by the guitar police and carted off to acoustic prison for cheating on barre chords if they don't suit my abilities. The ends justify the means is what you are saying J.C. so good on you and power to the power chords.
