Bryan Sutton Bluegrass Guitar Picking Pattern Lesson

I found this helpful. And it's super simple, but it helps with the picking flow which is something I have a problem with sometimes.

As an aside - look at that poor ol' Martin guitar he's playing on! It sure looks beat up. I wonder how old that is?

I think that's my main problem..my guitar looks too new. Not near enough practice.

points off for promoting other peoples web sites on Devin's web site?

@mrgary

Not really promoting anything. Just liked the simple lesson that Bryan Sutton gave in this video. If Devin had given a similar lesson I wouldn't have posted this.

Will you go back now and post this message on other videos people have posted of famous guitarists giving tips and/or lessons? There are several throughout the forum.

I was not aware of the protocol for such things. Carry on! 😀

@jrick92 it’s not about how new your guitar looks, it is about how new your fingers look 🤣

@rinny51 It's just a good thing the bar is set pretty low for me as far as musicality goes.

Very basic but worth a watch.

I do these really basic excerises at least once a week. Like drills. They help my pick control, string accuracy, stretching and finger strength.

I try and practice every day before I play a song I know or something

I practice several times a day. I think my ‘practice’ is actually ‘playing’. I think I’m not focusing my practice time on improving my playing because I still suck

@jerseychicadee I really doubt you suck, maybe you aren’t as good as you think you should be yet, but we are always the most critical of ourselves.

I sound great in my own minds eye but others hear a cat in heat I’m certain! Lol
