What is your go to song? If you were sitting around a campfire and somebody asked you to play a song, what would it be? I think mine would be Country Roads by John Denver.

Salut Jocelyn ! Je comprends tellement ton choix !!! Jocelyn and I come from Québec, Canada : we share this musical tradition ! I also recommend all you acoustic fans listen to this album :

Jim Corcoran, Bertrand Gosselin, « La tête en gigue » (and this song is amazing : « Remplis mon verre »)

As some of you know, I can't play for the moment, but the song I always started with for the last 4-6 weeks was « Wildwood Flower »

Olivier

Lady by John Denver is a pretty song along with Late Winter Early Spring.  But if trying to get a sing along probably Peaceful Easy Feeling by the Eagles.

Right now I really like "Gentle on My Mind" and "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain." That last one was in one of Devin's Country Strumming courses. Gentle on My Mind has some nice chord progressions that just have a great sound to them. Easy to play, too, so I'm trying to teach it to my hubby.

@rinny51 Have to say I've never heard his son sing. I'll have to check it out. Learn something new every day. 😊

@rinny51

Started on Wildwood Flower just recently. I've always loved Dolly's "Coat of Many Colours" that seems to be from the same sort of place. I'm hoping I get a handle on it after a while, but I have to work hard with all these songs to get to where i want them so I can forget about playing and think about singing instead. Been really enjoying playing Devin's version of Old Grimes and am finally getting the old muscle memory to do its thing, so it's time to get something else in the mix.

I have to really love a song to make the effort to see it through, but Wildwood is a keeper and I will soldier on. I also think there are quite a few other songs that will come into focus via learning that one. Not least Dolly's Coat Of Many Colors which shares the same chords and much of the melodic notes. These are songs that are tailor made for the acoustic guitar.
