@wjssavhotmail-co-uk Like a lot of Boomers, my first experience with Earl Scruggs was watching the Beverly Hillbillies. He and his duet partner, Lester Flatt, wrote and performed the theme song and starred in a couple of episodes. You probably know all this John. In one episode, both Earl and Lester were vying for the affections of Jethro's mother, Pearl. So Lester would sing, "Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, don't you marry Earl..." I remember that as if it was yesterday, but can't recall something that happened last week. Or course, their real claim to fame is as pioneers, along with Bill Monroe, of the bluegrass movement in country music. As you say John, he's the granddaddy of them all.
