And high -- seems to position the guitar close to how it is when I'm sitting. I've practiced standing while strumming chords, basically by feel, and I need a ton more practice for sure. It's funny that my basic chord changes while sitting I'm not staring at the frets at all. In fact, I'm usually focused on reading tab/lyrics. But, if I take that slight peripheral view away by having the guitar perfectly vertical, hmmm, not easy! Same thing standing of course. 

Overall, I find it quite a bit different vs sitting. Especially finger-style and flat picking. Even more impressive to watch the great flat pickers play standing. 

Dobro, FWIW, is easier to make the transition as long as your strap set up is good. Btw, I finally got the Schaller strap lock system on my primary acoustic and am really happy with that solution. Before, I was just using rubber washers essentially to keep the strap on and it was not fullproof by any means.

I wish I could say that about myself. Where I live there are never ever any bluegrass concerts. Actually I’ve never been to one - except maybe The Dead South, if that counts. I just thought bluegrass and sitting doesn‘t fit together 😆
