“Cluck Old Hen” is a traditional Appalachian folk song that dates back to the year 1886 and the earliest recording of the song was done by Fiddlin’ John Carson in 1923. This song is usually known as a banjo tune, but you’ll hear several nice versions on fiddle, mandolin, and guitar at bluegrass jams.

This song is usually played in the key of A by placing a capo on the 2nd fret and using key of G chords. There are several variations of “Cluck Old Hen” but we’ll tab out a common chord progression below.
